LA's Proposed Baseline Hillside Ordinance BASELINE HILLSIDE ORDINANCE SUMMARY
BACKGROUND
1.The adoption of the Baseline Mansionization Ordinance (BMO) in June 2008 which provides regulations for the non-hillside areas of the City. BMO regulations focus on Floor Area Ratios (FAR) and height.
Step 2. The verification and necessary revisions to the Hillside Area designations to more accurately reflect the actual topography of the City’s hillside regions.
Step 3. The Baseline Hillside Ordinance (also commonly referred to as the Hillside Mansionization Ordinance) will be the third step in preventing out-of-scale single-family development in the City of Los Angeles. StepBASELINE HILLSIDE ORDINANCE

Design tips for updating 1950s tract home Q: Our house is a nondescript 1950s ranch tract home with a light-gray composition shingle roof. It's currently a dated white with blue trim, and we'd like to update the paint job. We're also relandscaping with drought-tolerant tropical and contemporary plants, and not much grass -- mostly bark and flagstone walkways.
